About

Take a peek inside the history of our building and shop.

According to local history, Leo Katz purchased the first building, tore it down and built the current structure in 1898. The building became home to Katz, Chaffin & Co, a clothing store for men, women and children. The corner of court and main was referred to as Katz’s corner. In the 1920’s and 1930’s, the building was home to Kroger. Most remember the building as Murphy’s which occupied almost the entire half block. Since then, store has been a bookstore, a dress shop and now is the home of Back-En-Thyme Flower & Gift Shop.

Kendra Redd-Hernandez purchased the shop in 2002. Since then there have been extensive interior and exterior changes. In 2011, the exterior entrance was painted to enhance the beautiful architectural elements. The shop name evokes a time when customers were friends and service was a priority. With a staff of four, Kendra and her team strive to provide that good old-fashion customer service interlaced with quality, freshness and modern conveniences.

Come experience a building with history, an atmosphere of beauty and an opportunity to relax and be inspired. When ordinary just won’t do….Back-en-Thyme will create it especially for you.
